~bimbi artists' camp
Annabel and Sally Nowlan's desire to amalgamate the creative with the rural, and to overcome the cultural cringe and marginalisation associated with the outback, saw Bimbi artists' camp come into existance. Their father, the late Tony Nowlan was always enthusiastic and welcoming to friends from far and wide.
The artists' camp sets no agenda, artists and friends come, relax, enjoy and respond to their surroundings when and how they please. Some travel to the local tips and scrounge amoungst the refuse for materials, some disappear over the horizon for inspiration, others go yabbying or just join the mad foody throng around the homestead kitchen.
The artworks produced tend to be of experimental and transitory nature, including photography, installed works, sculpture, pyro-technics, conceptual projects, performance and drama.
Bimbi, has been held over the past two Easter breaks in 1995 and 1996, and will continue to be held annually. In 1997 Bimbi Camp will be happening in spring, from 3 till 8 October. For information and to register your interest click here,or contact Annabel.
